As the Country continue to record increase cases of Covid-19 and its consequent fatalities; the National Arbovirus and Vectors Research Centre has intensified the effort it is making in sensitizing the public on the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic ravaging the country presently.
Recently, the Centre launched a Robust Sensitization across essential commodity markets in Enugu Metropolis; to sensitize the Market leaders on the Reality and Dangers posed by this pandemic. This is one of the efforts the Centre is making in preventing the widespread of the disease.
The Advocacy,Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) Team of NAVRC was at Artisan Market recently, where they educated the market leaders on the dreaded Covid-19 disease pandemic and urgent need to put adequate measures in place to prevent the spread of the disease in the markets especially, in the wake of increase cases of the disease in the State and the Country at large.One of the NAVRC Officers addressing the Market Leaders during the Sensitization visit
The Team also took time to educate the market leaders on the containment measures to put in place to avoid the spread of the disease in the markets. Measure such as the compulsory use of face masks and other protective gears by both Buyers and Sellers in the market, intermittent hand washing during transactions, maintaining of social distancing even while carrying out transactions among others.

As part of her efforts to sustain the message of the sensitization in the market, the Team on behalf of the management of NAVRC presented to the market leaders some interventions supports to encourage regular hand washing in the market.
