Following the confirmed cases of Yellow fever outbreak in Enugu state in November 2020; the National Arbovirus and Vectors Research Centre has not relented in the efforts it is making to support the Enugu state government in efforts to reduce the epidemic impacts, and to forestall further spread of the virus. The Centre has commenced environmental spray in some affected communities to bring down the population of the vectors.
NAVRC team has successfully completed fumigation at Obinagu and Iseagu in Ezebunagu autonomous community Ehandiagu ward, Nsukka LGA, which were among the worst hit. The exercise will also be carried out in communities in Igbo-Eze North, Igbo-Etiti and Isi-Uzo LGAs also affected by outbreak. This is to forestall further spread of the virus in the communities.
