Medical Students on a tour of NAVRC

Medical students from University of Nigeria Nsukka, recently , came on an excursion to NAVRC. This is to  gain practical knowledge of the different research  activities being carried out by the Centre. The students who are in the 5th year in their course of study; were taken to the different research sections and laboratories, where NAVRC staff were on ground to enlighten them; on the different research activities being carried out by the Centre, for vectors research, and control in Nigeria.

Entomology Section- an Entomologist explaining the methods of setting and use of BG trap in mosquito collection

Entomology Section- lecture on the application of the CDC light trap in mosquito collection

Phytochemistry lab– lectures on the plant extraction procedures and their benefits in vector control

Insectary  Unit- exposition of  the different immature stages of the mosquitoes  breed for yellow fever vector research, and other vectors of public health importance

Periodically, NAVRC offers opportunities to students from higher institutions of learning,  to embark on;  Industrial Training, Internship, and Excursions in the Centre. This is to offer them opportunity, to  integrate theoretical knowledge  with practical applications, as such knowledge could help them in meeting some of their educational objectives.The Students with their Facilitators in a group photo session, at the end of the tour
