NAVRC organizes 4-day training for her officers on use of GIS as tool for containing arthropod-borne diseases

A 4-day training is ongoing for staff of NAVRC. The theme Determination of  Spatial Susceptibility of Arboviral Diseases using Geographic Information System (GIS). The training is to equip NAVRC’s officers on the  usefulness of GIS  in risk mapping of arboviral diseases. Making predictions of volatile areas and tracking the prevalence of arboviral diseases that could lead to outbreaks through surveillance. GIS also  could be a veritable  tool for research, planning and making accurate predictions using spatial data.

The training Facilitators; Dr. Souleman Lamido and Prof. Ugoyibo in their different presentations pointed that GIS as a tool, could be useful in every area of life, therefore, its benefits cannot be overemphasized. The training  was structured  in modules for ease of understanding and carrying out of practical sessions. The training is conducted by the Space Management Consultancy Limited.
