One medium through which NAVRC has continued to engage the public positively is through advocacy. Advocacy has remain a vital tool to inform, educate and foster collaborations with the public in achieving its mandate. Thus; one of the foremost activities carried out in the cause of the Aedes mosquito sentinel surveillance activities is advocacy visit to relevant authorities, institutions, stake holders, individuals, public etc.
This has remain crucial in gaining support of stakeholders and community-based support especially in areas where the sentinel sites are sited. This has proven very useful especially in educating relevant authorities and stakeholders on the idea of establishing Aedes surveillance sentinel sites in their different areas, which is to forestall outbreak of vector borne diseases like Yellow fever, Dengue fever, Zika virus and other arthropod vector borne diseases through active vector surveillance.Advocacy visit to the Director for Public Health, Akwaibom state, Mrs. Essien (4th right) front rowAdvocacy visit to the Director Public Health, Nasarawa state, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan (3rd right)Advocacy visit to Mazi Azidi, Community Leader/ Ward Development Chairman.
