NAVRC Expands Disease Vector Surveillance across Nigeria with the Training of more Disease Vector Surveillance Officers

The National Arbovirus and Vectors Research Centre (NAVRC); is not relenting in its efforts  in making Nigeria  free of vectors that cause diseases. The Centre has just concluded training for another set of Disease Vectors Vectors Officers (DVSOs) drawn from Akwaibom and Ekiti states.

The DVSOs were trained on; basic field entomological techniques. Consequently, the Centre will be setting-up disease sentinel surveillance sites in the states, in addition to the existing ones in; Niger, Nasarawa, Benue, Ebonyi and Anambra states. This ongoing efforts is to forestall outbreak of vector-borne diseases such as Yellow fever in Nigeria.
