Vector Surveillance continues in Benue state, Nigeria

The NAVRC-trained, skilled-level, Disease Vector Surveillance Officers (DVSO) ; have embarked on active vector surveillance, in sentinel sites locations  in Benue state; even  as the Centre begins active vector surveillance for the year.  This is in a bid to preempt outbreaks of  infectious diseases such as-Yellow fever and other diseases of public health importance in the state.

Prior to the commencement of their vector surveillance activities in the LGA, the NAVRC-Team  paid Advocacy visit to the Director Public Health, Oju LGA, Ube Emmanuel, to update him on the vector surveillance and activities being carried out in some communities in the LGA.

Information obtained from this study, will help determine vector composition and abundance in the state and help forestall outbreak of infectious vector-borne diseases in the state.
