The National Arbovirus and Vectors Research Centre, is partnering with the Enugu State Ministry of Health, in providing emergency response to the communities affected by the recent outbreak of Yellow fever in the state.
The Centre was part of the meeting of the MDAs and Stakeholders, on Yellow fever outbreak response, held at the Emergency Operation Centre of the State Ministry of Health, in Enugu.

Entomologists from the Centre were present at the meeting
The Centre will be providing support in the areas of :
Detection of of the Aedes mosquito specie responsible for the yellow fever transmission in the affected communities;
Larval Survey to reduce the vector population in the affected areas;
Survey of the population index of Aedes mosquitoes in the affected areas;
Conduct preliminary survey to determine the susceptibility of the vectors to insecticide for maximum effective control among other case management interventions.

Recall, that there was report of outbreak of yellow fever in Umuopu and Ette communities in Enugu State in recent times; of which 6 cases have been confirmed out of the 43 suspected cases, with two fatalities recorded.
The meeting also had in attendance; representatives from the State Health Management Board, State Immunization Board, and the State Ministry of Environment. Others were, the State Coordinator WHO, State DSNO, Permanent Secretary Enugu State Ministry of Health, the Honorable Commissioners of Health and Environment in the state, among other Stakeholders.
